Gunmen robbed four people—including a policeman—in separate incidents in South Trinidad, during an 11-hour period last weekend police said yesterday.

The first incident occurred around 6 pm on Saturday on King’s Wharf, San Fernando.

Police said Amit Barry, 22, a student of Cap-de-Ville, just off Point Fortin, was awaiting a taxi when two men ran up to him.

One man pointed a gun at his head, and the other dealt him several blows about the body before relieving him of two cellular phones, valued at $2,000, a silver chain worth $100, and $40 in cash.

The robbers then fled on foot.

Three hours later, steelbender Mark Marcano, 28, of Phyllis Street in La Romaine, was walking along Peter Street, when he, too, was robbed.

Police said a gunman pointed a gun at Marcano and relieved him of $2,500 in cash and undisclosed items of jewelry.

Here, also, the robber escaped on foot. PC Emrith is continuing investigations into that matter.

Meanwhile, a police constable of Oropouche station was also a victim of robbers.

Investigators said the officer parked his silver Toyota motorcar at Tropical Plaza and went to watch cricket at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre.

When he returned at 10.30 pm, he discovered the vehicle had been broken into and a music player and equaliser stolen.

In the final incident, businessman Naipaul Ramsaran, 46, of Southern Main Road, Claxton Bay, was also held up at gunpoint at around 4.50 am by two men.

Police said Ramsaran was about to close his businessplace, Smiley’s Bar, at 55 Cipero Street, San Fernando, when the men robbed him of $4,400 in cash.

Once again, the robbers fled the scene on foot.

No arrests have yet been made. PC Morales and PC Emrith of San Fernando and Marabella police, respectively, are continuing investigations into both incidents.
