Man slain in PoS

A GUNMAN pumped two bullets into the head of a man yesterday as he strolled along Nelson Street, Port of Spain, near Independence Square, sending pedestrians scampering for safety.

Up to press time police were unable to identify the victim. The incident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. An eyewitness said the gunman walked up to the victim, held him by the shoulder, and fired two shots to his head at point-blank range.

Police cordoned off the area last night, blocking some residents access to their homes, while a helicopter hovered overhead. Residents complained that there were insufficient patrols in their district. The killing pushes the murder toll to 165.

Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations.

Will Trevor Paul stop wasting taxpayers' money? He utilised a helicopter, to do what? Is it all for show?
MAN SLAIN IN PORT-OF-SPAIN Posted: 2008-05-12 08:14:00 AM
One will think that because of the upper and lower Nelson street gang war that's on an uprise, and the Besson street police station being in close proximity, there will be a strong police presence in the area to intimidate these fools. Because Nelson street and Independence Square is a stone throw away from the police station, and there is no regards for the law, leaves us to wonder if their next move will be to walk in the station and assassinate their intended victim, regardless the consequences...and that's a scary thought.
Another murder in POS Posted: 2008-05-12 08:15:00 AM
This is ridiculous, where are the Police patrols for the capitol. In 2005 there were two back to back murders in POS. One occurred close to the Royal Jail, the other on the Brian Lara Promenade. There were a lot of meetings and plans to combat crime in POS. Then there was the bombs in POS, again there was a lot of meetings and talks. Thus far for 2008, there have been over five murders in Port of Spain, and every time, the killer(s) simply walk away. Again I must ask, where are the E999 Patrols, where are the CID patrols, where are the IATF patrols that should be patrolling POS. Who is seeking the interest of innocent citizen. May God bless us in T&T.
